Biomass Generation Project in Xun county, Henan province, P.R. China

The project is a newly-built generation project with straw fired fuel, which is located in the area with abundant wheat, maize, peanut straw resource and waste from nearby wood process factory, which is mainly bark. The install capacity of the project is 30MW and the annual biomass residues consumption is about 203,700tons (dry basis), and it is expected to deliver annually 189,105MWh electricity to Central China Power Grid(CCPG) of China to replace the capacity of coal-fired power plants. The GHG emission reductions are from two components. Firstly, it will substitute some electricity generation of CCPG dominated by fossil fuel fired power plants. Secondly, it will use straw in high efficiency, which will reduce CH4 emissions because the biomass is dumped or left to decay or burned in an uncontrolledmannerin the absence of the project. The estimated annual GHG emission reductions in 2nd crediting periodis92,649 tCO2e. The construction of the project started on 28/10/2005 . The project was put into operation on 30/11/2007. Project owner has performed 77 days in total of maintenance during this monitoring period, beyondthat, the power generation and monitoring equipments were running in normal conditions. The data records and management system were in place. The total emission reductions achieved in this monitoring period are269,477 tCO2e.
