Energía Renovable Tacuarembó 10 MW Biomass Power Generation

The project activity involves the implementation of a biomass-based power generation plant, using wood biomass and rice husks as fuel. The biomass is acquired from different sources, including, among others, a plywood industry, forest plantations (wood extracted by thinning) and two rice mills located in the region around the project site. The energy generated is delivered to the national grid of Uruguay. GHG emission reductions arise from displacement of fossil fuels used for electricity generation in the connected system. This small scale project activity consists in the implementation of a biomass electricity unit based on firing renewable biomass, with an installed capacity of 10 MW.
